The bird with the largest wingspan is the wandering albatross, whose wingspan reaches up to 3.5m (that is like two human adults standing on top of each other!)
Albatrosses are very interesting birds as they fly huge distances around the world. Some of the simulation work I have done on animal movement and behaviour actually relates to the movements of albatrosses. Some scientists thought that they used a particular type of searching strategy to find their food but other scientists (including myself) disagreed and there has been a bit of argument in the scientific journals recently about who is right!
