Speaking for myself – I don’t think so because neither of my parents have been to university or know a lot about science. They get bored when I explain my work to them! 😛 I just find myself enjoy learning about science at school!

I have other friends who parents know nothing about science but they are brilliant scientists themselves!!

Is that what you are asking for – or are you asking whether we inherit certain genes that makes us more of a scientist? (I don’t know this but I can find out for you)!

But I have friends that their father is a lecturer in Physics and now he is studying a PhD about protein unfolding via computational softwares. So he have to make lots of mathematical models and let the software to run the maths he has put in and see what happens.
I am not entirely sure how it works but if you are interested I can ask him for you 🙂
