      Hey victoria22!

That’s a tricky question… the answer is probably LOTS! When I did my zoology degree at uni, we learned about all of the main animal groups. I went on an expedition to Trinidad and studied about 5 different species of tree frog and a species of snail but also learned about birds and monkeys… and I went to Cyprus where I looked at 2 different sea turtle species. At the moment I’m mostly studying 2 species of crayfish (signal crayfish and white clawed crayfish) but I study other animals too, like fish and the freshwater pearl mussel.

When you add everything up (and all the stuff I learned in my degree) it must be 20-30 species. But I haven’t studied 20-30 species in detail… only the crayfish 🙂

As with Zara, I have studied lots of animal species in a brief way. I have done a lot of work on fish populations for example (all the species we catch for food), and also various species of animals that form groups (insects, fish, birds etc).

The animals that I am studying in detail now are coral reef fish – we study the baby fish and their development and behaviour. This includes a range of species but the most recognisable is the clownfish (Nemo).

I am also studying plankton – these are tiny bugs that live in water. There are lots of different types but we are looking at copepods at the moment (these are tiny crustaceans that you have to look at in a microscope).

Finally, I have also studied humans (we are animals as well!). We have done some experiments to look at how human crowds behave under different conditions.

      I don’t study animals 😛
But I guess I study cells (what animals are made-up of)!
