      Hi becky,

When I first studied it at university – I just found the biology and chemistry side to cancer more interesting than any other diseases that I have been taught so far. And also at the moment more work still needs to be done so I was really curious. But then later on, I guess it did become personal because people I knew died from cancer- it was quite horrible because his cancer has spread so he died of lung, brain, liver, stomach and a few other cancers. It was strange because one minute he was OK then within 3 months he was gone.
Friends of mine also have people developing cancer so it makes me think that so many people are being affected – not only the patient but their family and friends too.
I don’t think cancer is more important than any other diseases but because I find the biology so interesting and I love learning more about it.. it makes sense to me to do more research on possible treatments.
