I have a 2 year old son and most of my time is spent playing with him at home. I like working in my garden where I grow vegetables for us to eat and look after our animals (we have 2 fish, 2 cats, and 4 chickens at home). I also dug a really big wildlife pond in my garden and now have loads of frogs, newts, dragonflies and other animals living there. One of the best ways to help conserve wild animals is to give them habitats to live in, which is why garden areas are really important for many birds and other animals.

I like sport and play lots of football (although not as much as I used to). I also like mountain climbing and trekking. Unfortunately, there are no mountains where I now live in Essex though!

I like listening to music and like lots of different types of singers/bands – I am listening to The Courteeners right now! I also like reading books – usually adventure stories of some sort. I also play computer games. I used to try to program my own games and this has helped me now when I program simulations to do my research. In fact, some of the simulations I use are just like computer games.

Glasgow has a great music scene and there are always plenty of bands in town so I go to gigs a lot. In the past few months Iโ€™ve seen Architecture in Helsinki (a really fun band from Australia), David Guetta (a French DJ), Warpaint (an all-girl band from LA), Black Lips (a punk band who are on the soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Caribou (a mathematician who also records awesome music!). Next week Iโ€™m going to see Tom Vek who I first saw at Glastonbury festival five years ago โ€“ I canโ€™t wait! ๐Ÿ˜€

As well as live music, I love live comedy and I often go to my local comedy club for a laugh. Itโ€™s always good fun (unless you sit in the front row and get picked on!). Other activities that I enjoy include beating my flatmate at badminton, watching films (thereโ€™s an amazing old-fashioned cinema near me that do late night screenings at the weekend), wandering around the park on a sunny day (rare in Glasgow!), going out, spending too much time on facebook and cooking (if you know any good recipes, please send me them!).

I love to hang out with my friends and the usual stuff we do are- going to the cinema, shopping, chatting on facebook/msn, watch my friends play cricket and sometimes go camping since the Peak district is not far etc.

We go out in the evening and good thing about Nottingham is that there are lots of places to go to and not expensive either!! Different music in different places so I won’t get bored ๐Ÿ™‚ We also have the Nottingham Trent Arena and Rock City so you get different bands and comedian touring around here and it’s not far to go see them
Like Zara, I go to a comedy club (The Glee Club) with my friends from time to time and I actually get tired due to laughing so much!!!

I quite like cooking too so sometimes I might look for a new recipe and make my boyfriend try it out and if he is still looking well after ten minutes.. I will taste it too ๐Ÿ˜› haha joking.. it is usually not too bad (my cooking)!!

Anything that involves being outside: running, cycling, hill walking, travel… More recently, my partner and I have taken up sailing and in an adventure swap, I have introduced him to kayaking and he has introduced me to scuba diving. I am not much of a fan of the cold weather, so I use the winter to catch up on movies that I might have missed during the rest of the year.

I like this question, and I should have gotten back to it long ago. I like doing stuff outside, I go walking a lot, I love the woods. I like rock climbing too. And when I can’t go outside I read books, I draw comics or I play computer games ๐Ÿ™‚ … Oh and I love travelling! Haven’t gotten around to doing a lot of that with my studies, but when I can it’s always really exciting ๐Ÿ™‚
Apart from that I also like cooking, I am growing a few herbs in our backyard. We have an actual garden at my parents’ house, and I really miss it. There we also have a dog called Islay. She’s a bearded collie. I love going for walks with her. And we have guinea pigs ๐Ÿ™‚
