After school, I decided to carry on studying science because I really enjoyed biology and wanted to learn more! I especially liked being outside and doing fieldwork. I chose to study zoology, which is the type of biology that focuses on animals in particular.

After I finished my zoology degree, I took some time out to figure out what I wanted to do next… I worked a few different jobs but none of them were science-y. I realised that I missed science and learning new things – so I decided to go back to university and do research for a PhD!

I carried on studying because my curiosity wasn’t satisfied – I still had questions I wanted to ask and things I wanted to find out!

Eventually I got to the point when nobody knew the answers to the questions I had – then I had to start doing research to find out the answers for myself! This is what science is all about – asking questions and finding things out.

      Hi!

I have always enjoyed Biology since year 7 and interested to know what goes on in the cell (and chemistry helps explain all the reactions) so I chose Biochemistry to do at Uni.

We had 2 modules that covered a few things about cancer in my undergraduate degree (Biochemistry, 3 years). It really fascinated me because cancer cells are so clever so I decided to do an Oncology (study of cancer) Master’s degree, 1 year.

I really enjoy learning anything about cancer so I have decided to do a PhD research project (3 years) related to cancer too.

I am carrying on studying science, because I don’t give up on something I have started. So far I haven’t had any reasons to quit either, so I am quite happy to carry on 🙂
