It is great fun being a scientist. It is a bit like studying all the best bits of science that you enjoyed at school but with no teachers or other people telling you what to do! It is also quite exciting as I am finding out new things that people haven’t discovered before.

Science is definitely cool – I know I am lucky to be able to do it as a job!

Sometimes the job can be hard work – I also have to do teaching and admin work as well, but I love doing the science research when I can.

I don’t have black ops I am afraid!

      Hey damien! 🙂

Being a scientist is great, I would recommend it to you! I enjoy it because:

      1. I can do research on the things that I find interesting (in my case, animals like crayfish).

      2. Some scientists (like me!) get to work outside in nature, which I like better than being stuck in an office!

      3. I get to travel… I go to conferences to present my work and meet other scientists (e.g. I went to France last year). And I travel to rivers and lakes to find crayfish!

      4. Discovering new things is amazing, especially if you’re the first person to do it!

      5. I work with some great people… scientists aren’t boring people in lab coats at all (well… maybe some are!) – the people who work in my department are really nice, interesting and fun!

All of that, and I get paid to do it! That sounds like a pretty good deal to me 8)
